T his manual does not pretend to introduce stainless steels in depth and in all their aspects, nor to exhaust the subject in this short manual. We simply attempted to accomplish for the generic user a sort of guide, a good practice manual, so as to provide the essential elements to cope, quickly, to the many questions that often arises in the design phase, machining or instal- lation. For further information on individual topics, you may possibly refer to the tex- ts reported in the literature, to the bottom of the manual. Many are the uses of stainless ste- els, from the food, chemical and phar- maceutical industries, nuclear, construction, etc. and currently significant is the development of these alloys from the application point of view; so that in several industrial fields as stainless steel, thanks to its outstan- ding corrosion resistance and high mechanical proper- ties, has now taken the place of other traditionally used materials. However the user, as well as tap into this manual the necessary information, may involve “Centrinos” for any purchases, recalling that our company provides stainless steels of AISI 300 and AISI 400 in various si- zes and in different surface finishes. Also it performs cutting to size, flattening and every type of surface fini- sh, even on the customer’s material. Let’s now see more closely the properties of these steels. Si è semplicemente tentato di realiz- zare per il generico utilizzatore una sorta di guida, di manuale di buona pratica, in modo da fornire gli elementi essenzia- li per far fronte, in maniera rapida, ai numerosi quesiti che spesse volte ci si pone in fase di progettazione, di lavora- zione o di messa in opera. Per approfondimenti sui singoli ar- gomenti trattati, si può eventualmente fare riferimento ai testi riportati nella bi- bliografia specifica, al fondo del manua- le. Moltissimi sono gli impieghi degli acciai inossidabi- li, dall’industria alimentare, chimica e farmaceutica, nu- cleare, edile, ecc. ed attualmente notevole è lo svilup- po di queste leghe dal punto di vista applicativo; tanto che in svariati settori industriali l’acciaio inox, grazie alle sue spiccate doti di resistenza alla corrosione e di caratteristiche meccaniche elevate, ha ormai preso il posto di altri materiali tradizionalmente usati. Comunque l’utilizzatore, oltre ad attingere da que- sto manuale le informazioni necessarie, potrà interpel- lare, per eventuali acquisti, «Centrinos», rammentando che la nostra azienda fornisce acciai inossidabili della serie AISI 300 ed AISI 400 in vari formati e nelle diffe- renti finiture superficiali.
