T he considerable diversification of industrial applications re- ached by the stainless steels has necessarily brought the processors companies need to be able to have dif- ferent steel products on the market in various formats. The basic products supplied by ste- el plant, can be divided into “flat” and “long” products. Among the former can be classified: - wide flats (rolled or cut from the plate); - hot-rolled sheets; - cold-rolled plate; - hot-rolled strip; - cold rolled strip. Among the latter: - products in bars (rolled or drawn); - wire; - seamless pipes; - welded tubes. To these types of products are to be added the “jets”, that is to say different products obtained by ca- sting. Both for flat products than for long products are now available on the market, of various sizes, to satisfy any type of application requirement. From standard formats supplied by steel mill it is still possible to get any kind of subformat to size for special requests. At the level of Italian legislation, reference can be made, for the different products mentioned above, to the following UNI standards: UNI 3159: Stainless steel castings or sand cast alloy, heat-resistant (refractory). Quality, require- ments and tests. UNI 3161: Stainless steel castings sand cast, cor- rosion-resistant. Quality, requirements and tests. UNI 6900: Special stainless alloy steel resistant to corrosion and heat. UNI 6901: Semifinished and rods, hot-rolled or for- ged products and wire rod of special steel resistant to corrosion and heat steel. UNI 6904: Pipes made of special stainless steel bonded corrosion resistant and heat. UNI 8317: Finished products of flat stainless steel resistant to corrosion and heat. L a notevole diversificazione del- le applicazioni industriali rag- giunta dagli acciai inossidabili ha necessariamente portato le ditte tra- sformatrici all’esigenza di poter disporre sul mercato di diversi prodotti siderurgici nei vari formati. I prodotti di base, fomiti da accia- ieria, possono distinguersi in prodotti “piatti” e prodotti “lunghi”. Tra i primi si possono classificare: - larghi piatti (laminati o ricavati da lamiere); - lamiere laminate a caldo; - lamiere laminate a freddo; - nastro laminato a caldo; - nastro laminato a freddo. Tra i secondi: - prodotti in barre (laminate o trafilate); - filo; - tubi senza saldatura; - tubi saldati. A questi prodotti sono da aggiungere i «getti», vale a dire diversi prodotti ottenuti per fusione. Sia per i prodotti piatti che per i prodotti lunghi esistono ormai disponibilità in commercio, di svariate dimensioni, tali da soddisfare ogni tipo di esigenza ap- plicativa. Dai formati standard fomiti da acciaieria è comun- que possibile ottenere qualsiasi genere di sottoformato a misura per richieste particolari. A livello di normativa italiana, si può fare riferimen- to, per i vari prodotti sopra citati, alle seguenti norme UNI: UNI 3159: Getti di acciaio inossidabile o di lega co- lati in sabbia, resistenti al calore (refrattari). Quali- tà, prescrizioni e prove. UNI 3161: Getti di acciaio inossidabile colati in sabbia, resistenti alla corrosione. Qualità, prescri- zioni e prove. UNI 6900: Acciai legati speciali inossidabili resi- stenti alla corrosione e al calore. UNI 6901: Semilavorati e barre, laminati o fucinati a caldo e vergella di acciaio speciale inossidabile resistente alla corrosione ed al calore. UNI 6904: Tubi senza saldatura di acciaio legato speciale inossidabile resistente alla corrosione ed al calore. UNI 8317: Prodotti finiti piatti di acciaio inos- sidabile resistente alla corrosione e al calore. Lamiere, lamiere sottili, nastri e nastri larghi.
